MALDI prep / Proteomic Services
Cell, Protein and DNA Core Facilities
About MALDI Services
All MALDI mass spectrometry is now provided by the "Mass Spectrometry Facilities in the Mass-Spec facilities over in the Chemistry Dept.
MALDI (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization) is useful for samples such as biomolecules (proteins, sugars, peptides) and large organic molecules (polymers, dendrimers).
MALDI mass spectrometry sample preparations include molecular weight determination, molecular weight distribution, proteomics, drug discovery and more. Samples analyzed include polymers, lipids, oligosaccharides, phosphopeptides, bacteria, and small molecules.
MALDI Sample Preparation services in the Proteomics core is provides a variety of additional protein services ranging from protein isolation and purification through AKTA systems and/ or 1 Dimensional & 2 Dimaensional acrylamide gels using a "state-of-the-art" 2D Syetem along with automated gel spot picker, and protein enzyme digestion. Moreover, we are always readily available to consult with faculty, students and staff on proteomic matters.

The proteomics facility also provides access to sophisticated analysis software to enhance the researchers ability to more fully analyze their data.
This software is available either in the proteomics core facility itself or at deignated computers scattered within the PSC or NSC
Available Software includes:
• Decyder 2 Proteomic Analysis software (GE Healthcare),
• Imagemaster 2D Proteomic Analysis software,
• ImageQuant TL Gel Analysis/Quantitation software.
